Torrance, CA (March 16, 2010) -- The South Bay National Day of Prayer Steering Committee is proud to announce Michael Josephson, radio commentator of award-winning CHARACTER COUNTS! on KNX-1070 in southern California and stations around the country and one of the most respected speaker/consultant in ethics and character, as the Featured Speaker for the 12th Annual South Bay National Day of Prayer (NDP) Breakfast.

The South Bay NDP Breakfast annual event will be held on Thursday, May 6th, 2010, 7:30-9:00 A.M., at the Torrance Marriott (Torrance, CA).

Clayton Cobb, Pastor at St. Peter’s by the Sea (Rancho Palos Verdes), commented on this year’s featured speaker. “Each year the Committee tries to increase the Breakfast’s awareness throughout the South B
ay. We feel that Michael Josephson helps us achieve that goal,” announced Cobb.

Following a distinguished 20-year career as a law professor and CEO of a legal education company, he founded and serves as president of The Josephson Institute. The Institute has assisted corporations, government agencies, and professionals in politics, education, healthcare, law, sports, the military, and the non profit community to strengthen decisio
n-making and create sustainable ethical cultures. Clients include Johnson & Johnson, ITT, 3M, Kaiser Permanente, the Internal Revenue Service, the Social Security Administration, the Department of Defense, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the Naval Academy, West Point, and various state legislatures.

In 1993, the Institute moved into youth education with the creation of CHARACTER COUNTS!, a character development strategy based on universal ethical values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. CHARACTER COUNTS! is the largest and most successful character development program in the world employed by nearly 1,000 organizations to more than 7 million young people and their families. Since 1993, the U.S. Senate passes every year a joint resolution a
nd the sitting president signs a proclamation declaring the third week in October the National CHARACTER COUNTS! Week.

Tom Gregory, Event Chairman, announced SBNDP Breakfast tickets would remain at $25 and includes free parking. Tables are also available. Gregory mentioned the organization’s website, www.SouthBayNDP.org, has downloadable reservation forms, background and contact information.

The South Bay National Day of Prayer (NDP) Breakfast started in 1998. It is a community response to the 1952 Act of Congress that established the National Day of Prayer (first Thursday of May) calling Americans of all faiths to pray for our community, state, and national leaders.

The South Bay NDP will welcome approximately 500 government, civic and business leaders, i.e., men and women from all walks of life and faiths encompassing the 16 cities of the South Bay. The national NDP Task Force estimates there are over 40,000 events on this day and the South Bay NDP Breakfast is considered to be in the top 5%.

Some previous speakers included a Congressman (Steve Kuykendall), Senate Chaplain (Dr. Lloyd Ogilvie), movie producer (Randy Wallace) actor (Tom Sullivan), actor/singer (Pat Boone), authors, two Olympians (Rafer Johnson, Louis Zamperini) and even a former Beirut hostage (Reverend Benjamin Weir).
